About us


The Ginnohoshi Atelier (Ginnohoshi) is a studio that is established by Konomi and Hideo Kono in 1968 and currently managed by Riusuke and Rie Kono.  It is located in Chigasaki city where 60km is rural in Tokyo, Japan.

As an artist-let studio, Ginnohoshi is creating new attractive artwork that is inspirited by something to fun, beautiful and a lot of balloons (the Balloon is our key icon).

Rie Kono (河野理枝) 
A contemporary visual artist in Japan.
She has started her artists career since she finished BA. She studied English and American literature in her degree and She had a great interest from 
The Canterbury Tales.

Thus her early artwork is quite often painted the middle ages England. 
Although she did not get a specific education of the arts, She has studied painting from Konomi Kono and still she is affected by Konomi's attitude of artwork.
She is prefer to draw happier situation in her artwork because she would like to share viewers 'Laugh and be fat' that is her way of enjoying her own life.

Konomi Kono

Konomi Kono(こうのこのみ 1926-2006) is an artist and illustrator in Japan. 

She used to love a lot of beautiful and pretty things in her whole life and people who love them as well as her.
In addition, she was both antique French dolls and doll’s houses collector; their collections are represented herself and influenced her art works.
She loved children and she supported them as an artist. Although she was dead in 2006, her charity post cards are still supporting poor children through the UNICEF.
